Pop to Popism (and new hair!)

YAS SYDNEY GOES POP

Pop to Popsim - Art Gallery of NSW

Hey lovers! So I'm back with another art (and not-too-majorly-focused ootd + hair) post which I'm hoping to keep extra short and simple.

So recently I visited the Art Gallery of NSW to see the 'Pop to Popism' exhibition before it closes at the end of this month (to Sydney-siders: I highly recommend you pay a visit, its absolutely fab).

And for those of you interested in a succinct description of pop art, I would have to say this description is perfectly fitting - pop art was a movement that had no central manifesto but even in tis infancy was acutely self-aware, born of a postwar media culture and the slow evolution of an underground queer aesthetic into a mainstream sense of irony.*

For this occasion, I created an effortless outfit circling around pastel colours which allowed the pop art per se to really 'pop' I guess. Here, I have the more neutral colours of my outfit bring out the colourful elements that revolved around the era of pop while adding a fun contrast (i.e. soft pastel vs. bold primary colours).

Anyhow, please excuse my the quality of these photos and the awkward in-motion pose w/ Andy Warhol's fab soup cans because photography was not allowed (again, oops). And yep, too busy admirin' Lichtenstein's In the car to even look at the camera.. (mhm you got me again - admittedly, I was only trying to be blogeresque in that photo hehe).

Special thanks to Rebecca for taking these photos for me, meanwhile trying a bit too hard not to freak out when the gazillion security guards walked passed, looking at us suspiciously.

OH AND BEFORE I END, SAY HELLO TO MY NEWLY BALAYAGED HAIR!
Soz for the caps I'm just so in love.

Last week I payed a visit to Amaya's salon at Wakeley to get my almost ratchet hair fixed (it actually doesn't seem all that bad in the before photo but ugh those orange/gold tones sorta killed me). So basically, Amaya lifted my balayage while creating a seamless blend, and may I just emphasise SEAMLESS! After the balayage process, I had my hair toned and styled by herself and her bf (Nick I think it was) - it was like power couple at work. And when I left, my hair was feeling fresh af, super silky and I dare say, softer than virgin hair (okay maybe I am exaggerating a little, but you get the gist).

I highly recommend her to everyone and anyone as I know that I will be back for sure! Not only is Amaya + her team exceptionally talented and amazing at what they do, they're also super easy to talk to and friendly! Even though I had to trek almost an hour to get there (ty Jess for driving me), I can only conclude that it was defs worth it!
